I’m thrilled to say that this weekend my husband and I got to participate in breaking down one of the final barriers of pre-parenthood…the baby shower.  We were invited to celebrate with our friend Jeremie as he and his wife Missy prepared for the birth of their baby girl. Previously, I had been invited to showers for couples, but this was my first experience with a “dad diaper party.” Whether you call it a “dad-chelor” party or a “man shower,” we had a great time bonding over babies and beers!

June is turning out to be an exciting month in our home. Both my husband and I celebrate June birthdays, it’s the first day of summer, we get to celebrate Father’s Day, and last week, our adoption of our son Micah was finalized!

My husband and I are facing another first in our relationship--celebrating Mother's Day from the parental side of things. For years, we have gotten by with a card, phone call or visit and a bouquet of flowers to celebrate the special women in our lives. Now, however, we are celebrating Mother's Day from the perspective of our son Micah, and as two dads we don't really know what to do.
