Top GWK Podcast Episodes of 2021

The year may have had its ups and downs, but at least one truly fabulous thing came of 2021 — Gays With Kids the Podcast officially launched in June! 

Over the past 18 episodes, we’ve heard some amazing stories of gay dad families, discussed issues and news that matter to gay dads, and learned from experts about the future of forming families for gay, bi and trans men.

S2E3: Travel for LGBTQ+ Families - When it comes to families with same-sex parents, finding a vacation spot that is both kid-friendly and LGBTQ+ friendly can often feel like a huge and stressful task. This episode, GWK host David Dodge talks to two experts about navigating travel as a gay parent ahead of Spring Break 2022.

S1E9: Out & Proud Dad; Former Officer Malcolm Cuthbert's Story - GWK Associate Editor Brit Smith speaks with former British police constable Malcolm Cuthbert about his experience as a closeted police officer during the 1980's, his current advocacy work for LGBTQ+ inclusion, and how he and his husband formed their family of four children via surrogacy in the U.S.

S1E8: Three Dads and a Baby; a Gay Throuple's Story - Apparently, three dads are better than two! GWK host David Dodge talks to California physician, gay dad, and author Dr. Ian Jenkins about polyamory, how his family was formed, and his experience parenting his two children as part of a so-called 'throuple.'

S1E6: Follow Mario & Monte's Surrogacy Journey, Pt1 - Meet Mario and Monte Foreman-Powell, a military couple in Nebraska who met at church and stayed closeted for years. Now they're out, married, and ready to start their family. They appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show in March 2021, where they won diapers, toys, and cash to help start their surrogacy journey. Now, GWK is picking up the story and following along as M&M try an at-home surrogacy kit to form their family. Part 2 will drop in early 2022!

S1E2: Pete & Danny's Unplanned Pregnancy - Hear from Pete Mercurio and Danny Stewart, a couple who became dads after Danny found a baby who had been abandoned at a New York City subway station in 2000. Pete and Danny describe the night they met their son, and how life changed after they experienced what they called an ‘unplanned pregnancy for gay men.’

GWK’s Mini-Series; The Future of IVF - Check out this 4-part podcast mini-series, and learn from four of the nation’s leading In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) doctors about some of the most important topics to gay dads and dad-to-be about surrogacy. In Part 1, Dr. Ringler discusses Egg Donation. In Part 2, Dr. Hirschfield-Cryton covers Insurance Costs for IVF. In Part 3, Dr. Leondires talks about HIV and Surrogacy.
