#GWKThenAndNow: Germán, Leonardo, Santiago and Tomás from Colombia

For this week’s #GWKThenAndNow we have our first South-American family: Germán and Leonardo with their two sons, Santiago (22) and Tomás (18) live in Colombia! Germán and Leonardo began their relationship in 2001. (Santiago and Leonardo are Germán’s biological children from his previous relationship with their mother.)

The 2001 photo is one of the earliest photos of Leonardo with Germán's children. Germán says that it was the "acid test" of his and Leonardo's relationship.

The 2005 and 2006 photos were taken during the year that Germán worked in Medellín, Colombia, the city of residence of his two sons, who live with their mother.

German and Leonardo are not able to get married in Colombia, nor can Leonardo formally adopt German’s sons, Santiago and Tomàs, yet since 2001 they have been a family.

In case you’re wondering why there are only three family members in the photos, it’s because the fourth person is taking the photo!

Sometimes there is some overlap in musical taste in this family. The Squirrel Nut Zippers are an example of this shared interest and this family enjoys spending time together at their concerts.

German and Leonardo are considering expanding their family but, due to legal restrictions, will have to adopt from outside of Colombia.
