#GWKThenAndNow: Casey, Garett, CJ and Patrick

This week's #GWKThenAndNow features gay dads Garrett and Casey with their two sons, CJ and Patrick. This handsome family of four live in Orange, California.

Garrett and Casey met in January 2001 through a mutual friend, bonding over their shared love of travel.

Casey and Garrett were married in June 2007, at the Laguna Hills Civic Center during the short time same-sex marriage was legal in California. The only guests were their moms.

Casey and Garrett always wanted to be dads and decided to create their family through foster-adoption. Casey says, "We both loved the idea of raising kids and we found resources through Orange County Social Services."

CJ, 2009

They fostered their eldest son, CJ, in 2009 when he was 19 months old. Casey and Garrett adopted CJ officially the following year in 2010.

In 2012, they became a family of four when they welcomed 3-month-old Patrick into their lives. Casey and Garrett also fostered Patrick through Orange County Social Services, and they adopted him the same year.

The children call Garrett Little Daddy and Casey Big Daddy. Casey says the most important lesson that they’re teaching their children is "to love all people no matter of what their differences might be."
