Drew lives in Little Rock, Arkansas, with his two children from a previous straight relationship, Parker, 4, and Evelyn, 2, and his fiancé, Marvyn. Although Drew and Marvyn have only been together for five months, Drew realizes that may seem like a surprisingly short time for a marriage proposal. But he says with a love like theirs, “I just couldn't let that get away!" Both Drew and Marvyn go by "Daddy" to Parker and Evelyn, and the kids adore their new dad! See what a typical day looks like for this Southern family!
Every morning Parker and Evelyn get Drew up right after Marvyn goes to work (for the U.S. Air Force). While Drew makes breakfast, the kids usually watch Magic School Bus or in this case, color!
Drew is home with the kids today and from time to time, he paints Evelyn’s nails. Parker sometimes asks to have his painted too, and Drew usually obliges. He tries to instill in both his kids that there shouldn’t be such things as “gender norms," so sometimes Drew paints his nails too to help reinforce this idea.
Drew is relatively fluent in Spanish and he plans to learn many more languages. He would love for both of the kids to be bilingual, and possibly learn another language as Drew feels it has so many benefits: It’s a great way to help the kids learn another culture, to set themselves apart from other children during their school years, and to do something fun together as a family. Marvyn is also fluent in Spanish, so he helps wherever Drew falls short.
Parker and Evelyn rush Marvyn at the door as soon as he comes in, screaming his name, and laughing all the while.
One night a week, Drew and Marvyn take the kids out for some delicious Mexican food. Only yummy vegan tacos for Drew, though!
Drew and Marvyn try to take Parker and Evelyn somewhere fun every day and tonight they explore the Promenade: an outdoor shopping center in Little Rock.
