This week's #GayDadWednesday family is Daddy Bryan, Papa Milton and their two gorgeous children, Hollis and Harper. Originally from New England, the family relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, last year and they’re loving their new home! They’re many places to see and things to do for the children, and they've found the city to be much more diverse than they originally thought. The one thing they do miss is the ocean...
Milton and Bryan always wanted children, and this past November they celebrated their 16th anniversary! They are proud to be a multi-racial family and their forever grateful for the legal and social justice work that preceded their time. Bryan said, "The LGBT leaders of the past and present have made our dreams a reality."
Originally skeptical about the foster-to-adopt system, they decided to do their research and learn more. What specifically affirmed their choice to that route was the different levels of legal risk associated with a child in the foster care system. Their daughter, Hollis, came to them at 2 days old; their son, Harper, was about 2 weeks old. Their official adoptions took place in Connecticut after about 15 months for both children.
Follow Daddy Bryan, Papa Milton, Hollis and Harper on a typical day for their family, and see how life is shaping up for them in St Louis.
Hollis is 5 and just started attending kindergarten at the school where Bryan teaches first grade. She adores school and looks forward to going each and every day. Harper is her younger brother, and his No. 1 is his big sister! The two of them are quite a team. Harper is 3½-years-old and he accompanies Papa Milton to work at Monsanto where there is a wonderful Bright Horizons child development center on the campus.
Bryan and Milton are open to connecting with other families or same-sex parents that may have questions for them, or want to inquire about their journey to building a family. If you would like to get in touch with Bryan and Milton, please leave a comment in the box below.
