Clint and Jacob met through friends the summer of 2011 during a drought in Texas. They hit it off instantly on a hot summer day during SPLASH on Lake Travis (Austin, Texas). They stayed up all night, sharing their wants and wishes with each other, even bringing up the subject of kids during this first evening together. They both wanted a family.
Within six months, Clint moved to Houston to live with Jacob; they were married in Washington, D.C. on March 1, 2014, while Clint was there to lobby and train with the Human Rights Campaign.
They began the process of private adoption before they were married, unsure how long it would take. It was nine months to the day when Clint and Jacob received a call saying that their first child was on the way, three-and-a-half weeks premature.
Following a quick flight to Florida to meet their child, they welcomed Danica, a beautiful baby girl, into their home and into their hearts. Clint says about the whole experience, "When you hear people say 'The child for you is out there,' they're not lying." Follow this family of three on a typical day in Houston.
Thanks for sharing your #GayDadWednesday pictures with us, Clint and Jacob!
