Blue's Clues Pride Parade 2021

Blue’s Clues Pride Sing-Along Song Features Drag Queen Nina West

Nickelodeon TV show Blue’s Clues is honoring LGBTQ+ families this Pride Month with a new sing-along song featuring a beloved drag queen who hosts an animated Pride parade.

The video published to the Blue’s Clues YouTube channel on June 1st shows an animated version of Nina West from RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11, singing LGBTQ-inclusive lyrics to the melody of "The Ants Go Marching."

The cartoon shows a parade of animal families that include two moms, two dads, and other types of LGBTQ-parents, all waving rainbow flags.

"This family has two mommies,” West sings. “They love each other so proudly and they all go marching... in... the big... parade.”

Other LGBTQ+ terms are also included in the sing-along video, like "trans," "non-binary" “pan” "queer” and “allies.”

West also sings about families that have non-binary members, and she references families that come together through foster and adoption, saying “some people choose their families.”

As the parade ends, West sings; “Love is love is love you see, and everyone should love proudly.... Happy Pride Month!”

On Instagram, West said she had a great time making the video.

"What a way to kick off Pride Month than with my pal, Blue!" West said. "Singing and dancing in the streets celebrating Pride is so much fun, especially with all of our new friends! Check out the full video at the link in my bio! HAPPY PRIDE!"
