Financial Expert — Matthew Erickson
To help you and your family plan secure your financial future, we are pleased to partner with Matthew Erickson, a financial advisor at Northwest Mutual — who has a special commitment to helping LGBTQ+ people, people of color, and womxn meet their short, mid, and long-term financial goals.
“I am here to plan with dads throughout every stage of their unique lives on the amazing journey of becoming parents, living as a beautiful family, retiring with the life they’ve worked hard for and passing the torch to their next generation,” Matthew said.
Matthew told us he understands that many of routes to fatherhood available to gay, bi and trans men — like surrogacy and adoption — are expensive and as such, walk "hand in hand" with financial planning needs: both to create your family and in securing your family's financial footing in the future. "It is important to understand and apply what makes these conversations unique in the LGBTQ+ community," he said.
Look out for articles and videos from Matthew touching on ways to save for your family planning needs, grow your family, and plan for your future goals. "I'm excited and honored to be a resource for the GWK community," Matthew told us.
Legal Expert — Eric Wrubel
To help you meet all your family and matrimonial legal matters, we are excited to partner with Eric Wrubel — Chair of Warshaw Burstein’s LGBTQ Family Law Practice. Eric has extensive experience representing LGBTQ individuals in family law matters — specializing in divorce for same-sex couples.
"When a marriage doesn't work out, it can present some unique challenges for same-sex couples who are also parents," Eric said. "I help my clients secure parenting rights, resolve child support issues, and make sure there is an equitable distribution of assets."
Eric works with his clients to negotiate divorce proceedings amicably — but will also represent his clients in trial when that is not possible. Look out for content from Eric on how to navigate and plan for a divorce as a gay dad, as well as helpful resources on shoring up your legal protections.

Wedding Expert — José Rolón
To help gay dads plan their special day, we are thrilled to be partnering with José Rolón, a New York City-based wedding planner often called the "nuptial maestro".
As a single gay dad of three, José and his family recently graced the cover of Parents Latina Magazine — first gay dad in its history, and has been seen on the TODAY Show, Good Morning America, and Ellen’s Game of Games. José has worked with dozens of LGBTQ couples, helping bring comfort to a process that’s famously filled with tough decisions and mounting stress. His work has been featured in The New York Times, Essence Magazine, Martha Stewart, and The Wall Street Journal.
"At José Rolón Events, my job is to help free you to make the most of your monumental day," José told us. "But to make that look easy takes months of hard work and preparation, and that's where I come in."
In the coming months, look out for articles and videos from José that will help you consider the best time of year to plan your wedding, some of the top considerations for venues, and some creative and important ways you can incorporate your kids into your ceremony.

Eli, who is himself a gay parent, founded Create Unbound with the goal of bringing families together with a combination of art, design, and education.
"These days all of us parents are looking for content that we can count on to engage and educate our children," Eli said. "I focus on specific and very high-quality educational materials, bringing art to all inquiring minds and hands. I'll be putting up free content on GWK as well as on my own YouTube channel so that you can easily inspire yourself and your kids. Diapers Expert —Emily Monroe
For dads with tots still in diapers, we are thrilled to partner with Emily Monroe, the Lead Diaper Engineer at Kudos — a company offering some of the best, most sustainable diapers on the market today!
"When we first got introduced to Gays With Kids, we were so inspired by the team, their mission, and the amazing community that they celebrate on a daily basis," Emily told us. "That’s why Kudos is thrilled to be serving as the official GWK diaper expert to help new parents avoid the ups, downs (and sometimes up the back and out the sides) of all things diapering."
Look out for content from Kudos on any and every diaper topic imaginable, from what to look for in a diaper for your baby or toddler, to tips for the perfect diaper change. "In addition to making diapers for a living, I have three kids myself with another one on the way," said Emily. "That means I've had a lot of experience with diapers! Whether you're wondering about when to size up, how to care for your baby's skin, or what to do if you're experiencing leaks -- I look forward to helping you navigate the world of diapering."
