Alfredo and Anthony

Alfredo and Anthony Marcial live in Newark, New Jersey with their 4-year-old son, Adam. The couple met in New York City and have been together for 10 years. They were married on September 19, 2011. Alfredo used to work for a celebrity hairstylist, and now is a stay-at-home dad. Anthony is a supervisor for the MTA in New York City. The couple also has a daughter whose adoption they hope to be finalized very soon.

Tell us about your path to parenthood. Did you consider other options? We decided on foster to adopt we found that children needed families in our state and we didn't care if they were blood related or not . We knew that we could give a child a loving safe home weather its for a few months or a life time.

What obstacles did you face on your path to fatherhood? We have been foster parents for 4 yrs and the biggest obstacle is having children caring for them getting attached and having to see the child leave your home ... it's never easy you grow such attachment to them ! We have had a total of 7 children and have only adopted our son and we are currently on the way to adopt our daughter.

What are your goals now that you have a children? How has your outlook changed? I ( Alfredo) use to work for a celebrity hairstylist. I use to live the fashion life but recently I'm a stay-at-home dad and I love every minute! I want to show my children that every family is different that we come in all color shapes and sizes and gender! I want them to see that love is love and family is what you make it!

Was there ever a moment that you or your husband experienced any serious doubts about your path to fatherhood or fatherhood itself? No we never had doubts we have had hard times but have never doubted that we wanted children at any cost.

What have you learned from your children since you became a dad? We have learned so many things from how to bathe a baby , teaching them to walk and talk we have learn that children are the most important thing to have in our lives but the thing we have learn the most is how to be a strong family unit we are better spouses because of our children and the things we learn.
