There are many different professionals available to help you adopt a child — including private and public agencies and individual lawyers. But for the LGBTQ community in particular these agencies are not all created equal. It’s important to find an LGBTQ affirming agency, and one with a long track record of success in helping queer men form families.
This webinar will help guide you through many of the top considerations LGBTQ people should keep in mind when adopting, and help walk you through the process. In particular, this webinar will cover:
- Difference between “independent” adoption through a lawyer and “agency” adoption — and the benefits and drawbacks of each.
- The HRC “All Children, All Families” seal of approval for adoption agencies — what it means, and how agencies become certified.
- Questions to ask your adoption professionals to ensure they are LGBTQ affirming.
