Gay Dad Life

In an Emotional Wedding Speech, Man Vows to Be "a Dad and Friend" to Husband's Daughter

There wasn't a clear eye in the room after Tommy Espinoza's beautiful vow to the daughter of his fiancé, Juan Garcia.

Juan Jaimes Garcia Espinoza, whose inspiring story we've previous brought to you, recently got married to his now husband Tommy Espinoza. Juan first became a dad via a previous marriage to a woman, but has been raising his daughter, Isabelle, with Tommy since the couple met in 2015.

"As you have been there for me, I vow to always be there for you," Tommy said to Juan during their vows. "To be there as a supporting husband, a best friend, and a co-parent to the amazing young girl you brought into my life."

Then, a clearly emotional Tommy motioned for Isabelle to join the husbands at the front of the ceremony.

"Isabelle, I promise to support you, to love you, to fight for you, to guide you every day," he said. "I'm here. I promise to be here for you in any way you need as a dad, and your friend. I am so thankful and blessed to have you in my life as the daughter I always wanted. You're beautiful, you're smart, creative, and full of energy. There's nothing I'd ever change about you. I promise to love you just as much as daddy. And I promise to always take care of you both, as long as you'll have me."

"It was a complete surprise to me," Juan told us of Tommy's beautiful speech. "I didn't expect it at all!"
