Everyone’s favorite CNN anchor and his gorgeous 10-month-old baby boy filmed themselves enjoying a cozy snuggle with a good book earlier this month, in honor of National Read Across America Day.
On March 2nd, Anderson Cooper and baby Wyatt busted out their copy of “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie” by Laura Numeroff, and invited their followers to read and listen along with them.
“Especially now with millions of kids not in school because of the pandemic, inspiring them to read is even more important than ever,” Cooper said.
Although he struggled early in life with a mild form of dyslexia, Cooper said thankfully it was noticed quickly and he was able to get the help he needed learning to read.
“But for a lot of kids, that's not the case,” he added.
Cooper said he now tries to read to 10-month-old Wyatt every day.
“He is such a happy baby, even though he has started teething,” Cooper said. “He loves being read to and so far Dr. Seuss is his favorite, particularly One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Ok, that’s my favorite, but he does seem to like it a lot.”
In a video clip posted to his social media for National Read Across America Day, the new dad can be seen flipping through the pages of the book while baby Wyatt plays with a rubber ducky in his lap.
Wyatt seems to love looking at the bright colorful pictures, and at one point he even tries to grab a few pages and join in on the fun with his dad.
“Is there anything better than just hanging out with your kid and reading?” Cooper asks. “Incredible.”
