Gay Dad and British Bakeoff Contestant Kneads His Way Into Fans' Hearts
Gay stay-at-home dad Dan Beasley-Harling is quickly become a fan favorite on the Great British Bakeoff.
This season of Great British Bakeoff features Dan Beasley-Harling, a gay stay-at-home dad of two, as a contestant. And he's slowing kneading his way into the hearts of fans.
In an interview with Pink News, Beasley-Harling said that, with his youngest starting school soon, he began looking for ways to fill his time, which led this aspiring baker to apply to be a contestant on the show.
"I have been at home looking after the kids for the last 6 years, so it was a chance to do something for myself," he told Pink News.
But even if he's not looking after his kids 24/7 these days, they are always clearly on his mind. In the first episode of the show, the bakers were instructed to create a biscuit decorated with a self portrait of themselves at a memorable moment in time. Beasley-Harling attempted to depict the moment he first met his youngest child, but the end result looked more like what one judge called a "massive prawn."

Still, the emotional moment was enough to win the hearts and minds of fans, helping Beasley-Harling quickly become a fan favorite on the show.
"It was the best moment of my life," Beasley-Harling said. "Just don't tell my husband that!"
