Check Out this Camp for LGBTQ Families!
CampOut enjoyed another hugely successful, fun-filled and action-packed weekend this past August! It was their second year and everyone had a blast.
We spoke with two families who attended both years and plan on enrolling soon for the third year in a row.
"CampOut is a wonderful way to not only create memories as a family, but also connect with other LGBTQ families in a safe, supportive space that is jam-packed with non-stop opportunities for fun," said Kent who has two young boys with husband Diego.
After attending last year, husbands Brandon and David along with their daughter, were most excited to return and see some of the families they met during CampOut's first year.
"It is such a great feeling to be a part of something that is specific to our families," explained Brandon. "The level of comfort, the feeling of belonging, seeing other families like ours not just for ourselves but for our kids as well."
For Brandon and David's daughter, the water activities were the real highlight. She swam, bounced on the water trampoline, and went boating. Petting the animals was also a favorite activity.
Kent and his family had tried a variety of the available activities last year, so this year they were a little more selective, and just like for Brandon and David's daughter, water sports seemed to be a great hit with their two boys.
But it's not just the activities that keep these dads coming back.
"Beyond the abundance of activities, excellent facilities and supportive staff, it was wonderful to see how attendance had grown from the inaugural year," said Kent. "The staff continue to be thoughtful in their approach to planning and decision-making to ensure its a memorable weekend for families."

And if we haven't convinced you yet, Brandon's message to future CampOut goers just might.
"In only two years, it felt like returning home, to a place of comfort," said Brandon. "The comfortable and welcoming and friendly feeling is indescribable. It's something we look forward to for years to come."
